*Music Picks: Acoustics

Las canciones en vivo son innegablemente una experiencia superior a la experiencia al escuchar las versiones de estudio. No hablo solamente de ver a una banda tocar a pocos metros de uno, sino también de las versiones acústicas que andan por ahí, siempre super íntimas, semi ocultas, que se encuentran casi por accidente o gracias a estas sesiones especiales que hacen ciertas páginas y/o estaciones de radio.
Quisimos hacer una recopilación de videos que hemos encontrado por ahí. TheTripWire.com es un ejemplo esencial de estas iniciativas que toman algunas páginas para exponer buenas bandas con videos a lo mejor low budget pero que por lo mismo tienen ese toque íntimo que tanto me gusta.
No sé si la lista esté en un orden particularmente preferencial, pero sí tengo que destacar. Esta versión de “The Mightiest of Guns” de AA Bondy me gusta mil veces más que la original; que el video donde graban a The Tallest Man on Earth es hermoso y que me recuerda absolutamente a su disco Shallow Grave; que el video de Wild Beasts no tiene el mejor sonido pero sí está muy bien grabado y el vozarrón de los integrantes principales se aprecia igual de harto; que Jenn Wassner es una de las minas con mejores voces. En fin, podría seguir pero sinceramente son todos favoritos.
*Live songs are undeniably a superior experience in comparison to listening to studio versions. I’m not only talking about watching a band play just a couple of feet away from you, but also about acoustic versions that are floating around on the internet, very intimate, almost hidden, that you find almost by accident or thanks to these special sessions some websites/radio stations make.
We wanted to make a compilation of videos we’ve found here and there. TheTripWire.com is an essential example of these initiatives that some websites take to expose good bands with videos that may be low budget but that at the same they have that intimate touch I like so much. I’m not sure if the lists is in a particularly preferential order, but I do have some things to point out. I like this version of “The Mightiest of Guns” by AA Bondy a thousand times more than the original; that the video recorded with The Tallest Man on Earth is beautiful and it reminds me completely to his album Shallow Grave; that Wild Beasts‘ video does not have the best audio quality but it is beautifully recorded and the amazing voices of both main band members can be appreciated just as much; that Jenn Wassner is one of the girls with greatest voices. Anyway, I could go on but sincerely they are all favorites.

Como extra quise dejar este video. Un cover de “Demon Host” de Timber Timbre por un “niño” que tiene sólo un poco más de 500 plays. Por lo que sé tiene una banda, toca pésimo la guitarra, y a simple vista me parece un douche bag de los más grandes, se cree ene el cuento, pero la verdad, tiene un vozarrón medio profundo y medio dark que no me sorprendería si lo hace escalar cuando gane unos añitos.
*As an extra I felt like leaving this video here. It’s a cover of Demon Host by Timber Timbre, by a guy who’s video has only a little more than 500 plays. For what I know, he has a band, he plays guitar awfully, and at first sight he seems like a true douche bag, he believes it too much, but the truth, he as an amazing deep, kind of dark voice that I wouldn’t be surprised if it takes him higher in a couple of years.
